STYLING JUNIPER - GREEN CARPET


I had great time last 2 days enjoying styling of my new juniper in the mornings before I went to work in the afternoon.
It was pissing rain outside, and I was cozy and comfy in my grandmother´s warm summer kitchen filled with the smell of freshly cut juniper scale leaves.

So, I bought this one for 17 euro, it was in my yard for about a week and I was really looking forward to work on it.
I knew I didn´t want another cascade although it offered itself for one and that would be an easy job with it´s branches spreaded low over the soil.
I wanted something different, something I do not have yet, and I certainly do not have juniper twin trunk. So I started with wiring the trunk on the right with thickest copper wire I could find in our shed. But it wasn´t thick enough even though I had hard time gently move it around the trunk and between secondary branches.
I had to remove it by cutting it off with my old wire cutters and my palms still hurt from cutting that thick wire with not very sharp cutters. Well, I got to use what I have for now as I am doing this on a really tight budget.
So next step was to bend the wire to have 3 of them in parallel and then wrap the wire around them and the trunk.
Bending was hard job with all that, but I managed it finally without any cracking sounds.
I did the same with the second trunk and the tree started to appear before my eyes.
Then it was mostly about wiring the remaining branches into positions, cutting off what was not fitting my vision now and thinking about how to wire to not have too many crossing wires.
Those extra parallel wires confused me big time and overall wiring looks pretty messy.
But I am not too sad for it as this is just first rough wiring and the tree will be probably wired many more times on it´s way to becoming a bonsai.
I need to lower the top of the crown on the right yet and maybe raise the left one a little bit too to make one part of the tree bigger (I had it higher at one point with the back branch but it looked artificial).
That small branch on the left bottom of the pic is going to make many bonsaists mad I am sure, but it will stay there as I view it as an original feature. It is common sight in nature to see young tree growing next to a big one, mostly from the same rootball, and I like the sight of it.
It is actually coming from the back of the tree.
Without that the tree will be more ordinary, and ordinary trees styled the same way are to be seen nearly at every exhibition, with just a few exceptions.
I liked what Walter Pall wrote in a recent comment on one of his posts - "I design trees, not bonsai". I want to create trees too, something that you are likely to find in nature, not one of the japanese perfect caricatures of a tree.
I like them wild.
Blonde chicks with tons of makeup and silicone implants are not my cup of tea :)
Maybe that is the reason I like landscapes so much too - usually less quality trees are used - and that simulates nature more, because vast majority of trees around us is not perfectly styled.
And I love that beauty in imperfections.


PS: I hope no bonsai artists nor blond sexbombs were insulted by my thoughts on the subject of styling and the way I decided to take, everybody likes something different and that makes life interesting.

TVAROVANIE BORIEVKY – ZELENÝ KOBEREC

Posledné dva dni som si vážne užíval pri tvarovaní novej borievky zo záhradníctva doobeda pred robotou. Vonku lialo a mne bolo príjemne a pohodlne v babkinej letnej kuchynke naplnenej vôňou čerstvo ostrihaného obrastu borievky. Mal som doslova predčasné vianoce J Takže stromček som kúpil za 17 eur, stál mi na dvore asi týždeň a veľmi som sa tešil kedy na ňom budem pracovať. Vedel som že nechcem ďalšiu kaskádu, aj keď nizko rozlezené vetvy sa na to priam núkali. To by bolo ľahké. Chcel som niečo čo ešte nemám, a jedna z vecí je dvojkmeň borievky, tak prečo nevyužiť jej dva kmienky a skúsiť to? Tak som začal s drôtovaním pravého kmeňa najhrubším drôtom aký som v humne našiel. Ale ani ten nedokázal podržať kmienok vzpriamene, aj keď som sa s ním dosť natrápil keď som sa ho snažil opatrne obmotať okolo vetiev a nepoškodiť ich. Preto som ho musel starými kliešťami po dedkovi oštikať a to bola s tými starými kliešťami dosť fuška, ešte teraz ma bolia z toho dlane. Ale čo už, musím si vystačiť s tým čo mám, keďže toto robím s veľmi obmedzeným rozpočtom. Ďalší krok bol poohýnať drôt aby som mal 3 paralelne pri sebe a mohol to použiť ako výstuž a podporu na držanie ohybu kmeňa a spolu s tým to znova nadrôtovať. Bola to riadna fuška, ale podarilo sa mi to bez akýchkoľvek zvukov praskania vetiev. Potom som to isté urobil aj s druhým kmeňom. A potom to už išlo skoro samo – nadrôtoval som sekundárne vetvy na pozície, odstránil tie čo nesedeli mojej predstave a dumal som ako to drôtovať s čo najmenšími prekríženiami drôtov, lebo tie extra drôty mi to dosť skomplikovali. Aj preto vyzerajú drôty na stromčeku ako riadny chaos. Ale to ma veľmi netrápi, keďže stromček bude na svojej ceste k bonsaju ešte neraz znova nadrôtovaný. Ešte musím znížiť vrchol na pravej korune a možno trošku potiahnuť vyššie ľavú aby strom vyzeral vyváženejšie – vlastne som mal pri stajlovaní v jednom momente vetvu zozadu nad terajším ľavým vrcholom, ale vyzeralo to veľmi umelo.

Tá malá vetva vľavo dole určite bude škreť mnohých bonsajistov, ale tá tam ostane ako niečo originálne, čo sa často nepoužíva. V prírode bežne vidíme takýto mladý výhonok rásť pri väčšom strome, väčšinou z rovnakých koreňov, a mne sa takýto doplnok páči. Vychádza vlastne spoza stromu. Bez neho by strom vyzeral obyčajnejšie, a obyčajné bonsaje tvarované skoro všetky rovnako môžeme vidieť na každej výstave. Páči sa mi čo som čítal nedávno na stránke Waltera Palla v komente na jeden z jeho článkov – „Ja dizajnujem stromy, nie bonsaje“. Ja tiež chcem tvoriť stromy, niečo čo sa dá vidieť v prírode, a nie napodobeniny japonských dokonalých karikatúr na stromy. Páčia sa mi tie divoké. Blondínky s tonami mejkapu a silikonovými implantátmi niesú nič pre mňa J Možno preto mám tak rád krajinky – väčšinou sa na ne používajú menej kvalitné stromy a to simuluje prírodu viac, pretože skoro všetky stromy okolo nás niesú dokonale nastajlované. A ja milujem krásu v nedokonalosti.

PS: Dúfam že sa žiadni bonsajisti ani blonďaté sexbomby neurazili z mojích poznámok k tvarovaniu a ceste ktorú som si vybral, každý máme radi niečo iné a to je to čo robí život zaujímavý J
